The first day. . . in the first grade!

Keaton looking quite dapper on the 1st day of 1st grade! Isn't the little boy tie belt so cute? She wasn't nervous one little bit!

Okay, now make a crazy face!

Keaton in Mrs. Childress' classroom--almost time for the bell to ring!
I wish I could tell you more about Keaton's first day of first grade, but she remains quite tight-lipped as of now! I'm sure more details will come soon. For the first day, Mrs. Childress had all of the students put 10 objects that tell about them into a red bag. Keaton chose: a pink marker signifying her favorite color, coins-b/c she loves to collect coins, a paint brush b/c she loves to paint, a pencil b/c she loves to draw, a ravioli label b/c she loves ravioli, a picture of her family, a picture of her soccer ball b/c she loves to play soccer, a picture of Jesus b/c she loves him, and her journal b/c she loves to journal about all that she's doing. She said that she was not nervous to talk to everyone, and that she spoke out loud and clear. She's soooo mini-showtunes! Do I feel an Oscar coming on in the future? Stay tuned! : )

Karsen flexing her "water muscles" in Grandma and Grandpa's pool

We had so much fun in California! The weather was absolutely beautiful, and who can beat swimming in Grandma's heated pool? Or pounding on Grandma's piano keys for that matter! The girls went right into the pool immediately after we arrived late in the afternoon. They had an absolute blast, and Grandpa even jumped in with them eventually. He was super impressed by their "mad skillz" in the pool. The next day was off to Disneyland. We can't thank mom's friend Lorea enough for giving us free passes! Many thanks! The girls had a blast. Their favorite rides were Finding Nemo and the Toy Story ride. I can't remember what it's called, but we waited in line for 50 minutes for it! Of course it was worth it, and Mr. Potato Head kept us occupied. The next day we went out to Newport beach. The kids had so much fun running into the ocean completely unafraid and scaring us half to death! And of course, there were sandcastles to be had! Brian is the king of those. Unfortunately, I got horrifically sunburned, but that's besides the point. The next day we celebrated my birthday with a better than ----cake with cream cheese frosting! My favorite! Thanks mom! There's nothing better than homemade cake on your birthday. We can't wait to go back next year. Cali was a blast! : )

Our Fabulous 4th!!!

Gettin' ready for fireworks!

How cute is baby Aspy?

Kickin' it in the Pacini's pool!

This 4th of July was a blast! The Pacini's were kind enough to invite us over for some fun in the pool. This was refreshing, especially in the 107 degree heat! The kids swam up a storm. Karsen, for the first time, was really able to swim around on her own with her "water muscles'. Then it was time for the All-American bbq hamburgers and hotdogs! And who could forget the cake? Later on, we traveled to the Sam's parking lot hoping to catch the fireworks being shot off from Tumbleweed Park. Apparently, we got there too early because we waited for over an hour for them to start! Just as we were getting ready to leave, the firework show began. . . well, for a little while at least. We waited another 7 minutes before we decided to call it quits. The kids were cranky and tired after having such an energetic day. So, sadly to say, we watched the fireworks from our car as we were driving home! I guess we at least got to see SOME fireworks! All in all, it was a great day. Thanks to the Pacini family for having us over!
